TEMPLES & BEACHES

After a relaxing and absorbing painting week at Moonhill, we head for Kandy, perhaps the prettiest of all Sri Lanka’s cities, where we’ll spend some time at the tropical Botanic Garden.A specialised trek to see rare endemic orchids growing in their natural habitat can be arranged on request. We visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth, as well as the famous Dambulla Cave Temple and the rock fortress at Sigiriya. We’ll also be taking in the entrancing Pinawella Elephant Orphanage, one of the few places in the world to successfully breed elephants in captivity. Our fabulous journey ends at the bustling beach resort of Negombo, where the red sails of the fishermen’s boats are a magical sight at sunset.
